Cover Letter | Front Desk Switchboard Operator Admin Assistant

Mr. John Smith
Department Manager
ABC Company
1234 E. Main Street
Any Town, US 55555

Dear Mr. Smith:

As an experienced administrative assistant with front desk corporate receptionist responsibilities, I am adept at managing day-to-day workflow activities, from providing administrative support to departmental managers to serving a point person and the “voice” of the company when prospective clients call to inquire about products and services.

In my current position with STU Marketing, I continue to prove myself as someone who can handle almost anything thrown at them! In addition to having a multi-line switchboard to tend to, I prepare correspondence, spreadsheet and slideshow presentations for various levels of the organization while demonstrating a proficiency in diverse Microsoft programs. I can even take a letter from some of the more senior executives accustomed to dictating versus drafting letters as some of the more computer-savvy managers do, as well handle a day’s worth of work transcribed to tape and left for me by managers who are traveling for several days.

In the past year, my work has increased to such a degree that the company has hired two assistants to share my workload. Since no one else knows the work as well as I do, I have been training them for the past eight months while managing my own work. I feel it is time for me to advance my career, and know that the assistants will do a good job taking over. I would love to move up in the company, but there is no room for growth at this time and I am anxious to establish myself in a senior administrative role with career growth potential.

If you feel there is a mutual interest, I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you to learn more about your your organization and to answer any preliminary questions you might have,

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. I look forward to having the pleasure of speaking with you about joining your company.
